About Maison Atelier

A wardrobe in slow motion

Maison Atelier was founded in 2019 by Étienne Laurent and Hana Mori — a Parisian patternmaker and a Tokyo-trained textile engineer who met at Central Saint Martins.

Why batches of fifty

Each piece is made in production runs of fifty units in a small factory outside Porto. The factory is family-run, so the same hands work on the same garments every season. We never run a piece into the ground — when fifty are sold, we re-cut only if the brief still feels right.

Where the materials come from

Italian linen from Como. Lambswool from Hawick. Cashmere whole-garment knitted in Niigata. Leather vegetable-tanned in Tuscany. We visit every supplier at least once a year.

On price

A Maison piece costs roughly twice what fast-fashion equivalents do, and roughly half what comparable luxury houses charge. The difference is the lack of a wholesaler in the middle and the lack of an advertising budget. We sell direct, we don't pay influencers, and we count on you to tell your friends.
